Professional Interview Prep

Admissions interviews need not be intimidating. Many universities offer applicants the opportunity to interview as part of the admissions process. Sometimes these interviews are informational (an informal exchange of ideas and information). Other times these interviews are evaluative (meaning that the university is very upfront about the fact that the interview will be looked at as just another part of the overall application).

No matter the type of interview, it’s an important occasion that could help your chances of admission – so why not prepare with help from us? Get primed for your interviews now with the CollegeMeister.

The story of Alec is a perfect example of how we help students every day not only prepare for college interviews, but actually also transcend their potential during admissions interviews.

Alec exuded that all-American teenage image. He earned high grades in challenging courses, performed superbly on his SAT, was a two-sport varsity athlete, and was president of several of his high school’s most respected clubs – the International Relations Association and the Social Action Committee. But just below the surface, Alec was a nervous wreck over one aspect of the college admissions process – the interview. Amazingly, despite all of Alec’s achievements, he had meticulously avoided ever having to interview for anything, let alone something as important as college. Now that he was applying to some of the nation’s top colleges and universities, Alec could no longer avoid interviews. He sought out the CollegeMeister to prepare for several on-campus and alumni interviews that he had scheduled.

Our Solution
Meeting the unique needs of all students is what the CollegeMeister does best. One of the most worrisome – yet overlooked – components of the college admissions process is the alumni or campus interview. Interviews are often highly recommended and a chance for students to show they are more than just a bunch of statistics. The CollegeMeister thoroughly prepared Alec for his interviews by devoting Alec’s first entire consulting session to clarifying what interviewers are looking for from applicants and providing useful tips on how to minimize nervousness. This helped Alec develop his key messages. Afterward, Alec practiced implementing his new skills though a series of CollegeMeister mock interview sessions.

The Results
Alec entered his real college interviews at ease and ready to take part in an exchange of information with those conducting the interviews. He gained confidence in himself and was able to learn more about each college by remaining cool and collected. By the time the college interview season had passed, Alec no longer dreaded interviewing at all. Alec was accepted at all colleges that required an interview as part of the application process. The interview skills the CollegeMeister imparted to Alec helped him reach his potential in areas other than college admissions. For instance, Alec interviewed and was selected for a prestigious international internship during the summer before his freshman year in college.

The above case study is a summation of a real CollegeMeister client engagement; however, names have been changed to maintain our client’s privacy.
